About Me

Shirley You is a production designer and art director from Guangzhou, China, with a deep passion for visual storytelling. She earned her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) from the USC School of Cinematic Arts in 2025, after completing her undergraduate studies in Film & Digital Media at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Shirley began her creative journey at Guangdong Television Station, where she contributed to a range of documentary programs and commercials. Since then, she has designed and art directed for a number of short films, including (IM)Perfect Us, Indulge Me, Model M!nority, and Mezzo. Her work is driven by a belief in the emotional and transformative power of cinematic worlds, and she strives to craft spaces that resonate with character and mood.

Shirley is especially drawn to projects that explore emotion through musical and religious elements, where production design becomes a vessel for spirituality, rhythm, and feeling.
